Ken Dowell - Yesteryear
Began with "those stupid toy planes" (mother's view) at age 8 in 1950 at the local flying field, Highfield Park in Camberwell. This just happened to be the home base for one Tony Farnan too - better known today as Mr. OS.
Went through the usual trials and errors that all kids experience when trying to "copy" their heroes, but with the benefit of hindsight (always 20/20 vision), it's the perfect apprenticeship for aeromodelling.
Complying with Andy Warhol's dictum "Everybody has their 10 minutes of fame",
Ken's was winning the 1963 Nationals Stunt Title at Strathalbyn, S.A. with his own
design "Angelique".
That design went on to win or place in many other competitions for Ken, and also for many other flyers including another Nationals for Daryl Hartshorne in 1965.

66 year old father of two and grandfather of

Six SEVEN - 15;
9; 7; 5; 3; 1-1/2 & a 1/2 yo's.
(For the smart****s (clever donkeys) out there, not one of us is getting any
younger.) The daughter's family car is an eight seater, so there's already one
running behind. A legal ninth seat is about to be fitted. Another one
yet to come? - NO MORE is now the cry.
Now retired from teaching Computers and Information Technology and, after a 36 year absence, returned to the aeromodelling scene early in 2003 for the nostalgia element and the wonderful people this hobby attracts. Catching up with friends from 40 years ago is proving to be as though it was yesterday.
Maintains the VicStunt website when not incurring Tennis Elbow from flying Moki51-powered Big Yellow Beasts.
